Mom agreed that we would leave early Saturday morning for vacation, to avoid traffic as much as possible. Also, to avoid having to pick up Arnaud from his house in the middle of the night, he is sleeping at our house on Friday night.

The three of us, Noa, Arnaud, and myself, are all very excited about leaving tomorrow morning. Mom, on the other hand, is mainly stressed about forgetting something important.

During the week, discussions revolved around vacations, the trip, activities, and diapers. It's a topic that Arnaud brings up very often. From what he tells me, I really understand that it reassures him and makes him feel safe when he wears them. As for me, if I had to choose two words, it would be: embarrassment and baby.

After dinner, mom sends us to put on our pajamas and brush our teeth. She wants us to go to bed early because the alarm will be set for 4 o'clock in the morning. Of course, I give one of my diapers to Arnaud when I take one for myself. A few minutes later, the three of us are in our beds and mom comes to tell us to fall asleep quickly.

"I won't pee in my diaper," Arnaud tells me, "not tonight, not tomorrow morning, so I'll save it for tomorrow's journey."

"You know," I say, "mom makes me wear one for long trips, so she won't mind if you pee in the one you have on now and take another one tomorrow."

"Oh really? Are you sure?"

"Positive!"

"Too cool," he replies.

I can tell that what I just said pleases Arnaud. Noa is already asleep, and I soon fall asleep as well.

The next morning when mom wakes me up, Arnaud and Noa are already up, I hear them out of the room. There is buzz in the apartment. I get up like a zombie, and go have my breakfast. The boys are very excited, and mom has to calm them down. I can see that Arnaud still has his nighttime diaper on, and I hear mom telling him to go wash up. He asks if he can put on another one for the trip, and she says yes.

"Don't forget to put yours on," mom tells me.

"Yes, don't worry," I say. With Noa and Arnaud all worked up, there's no way I'll be able to fall asleep in the car.

"We'll still try to avoid taking risks."

About 30 minutes later, the four of us are in the car and leaving the parking lot. I have my diaper under my sweatpants, just like Arnaud. I am finally fully awake, and I must admit that I am also excited to finally be leaving. We have been waiting for this moment for so many weeks, I couldn't wait any longer.

"I hope we didn't forget anything," mom says anxiously.

"If we have our ski suits and gloves," Noa says, "we have everything we need!"

"Hats as well," I say, because I get cold easily.

"And diapers!" mom adds. "I don't want the bedding to get wet, I don't want to lose the deposit I paid for the accommodation."

This statement makes Arnaud smile. Between his snow trip and the diapers he will be able to wear, I feel like he will be happy with us this week.

"By the way Arnaud," I ask, "did you wear the diapers I gave you for home when you stayed over last time?"

"Yes, they are great, I love them. I wore one for a night and slept really well. The other two, I wore them during the day. One was on a Wednesday, when we didn't have school. I even went to a friend's house. It was funny because his little brother also wore a diaper, but he was only two years old. And the last diaper, it was during school hours."

"Oh really?" I say, surprised. "Aren't you afraid that others will see it? They would definitely make fun of you!"

"I realized that no one pays attention to my clothes, let alone what's underneath."

"And did you pee in it that day?"

"Yes, it's great, I love it! No need to go to the bathroom."

Once again, Arnaud talks to me about how practical his diaper is and how he intentionally pees in it. It astounds me, how can one really decide to deliberately pee on oneself? Especially when there are toilets nearby...

"And your mom really doesn't know?" I continue to question him. "She has never seen anything or found anything in your room?"

"I was scared a few times, but no, nothing. Anyway, she has never brought it up."

Mom is driving and listening to us as I converse with the boys. The three of us are sitting in the back and I am in the middle. After a while, I feel like I'm going to fall asleep and my head starts to lean to the side. Having my diaper reassures me, I know that even if I fall asleep, I won't wet the seat and get scolded by mom.

When I wake up a little later, I realize that I'm not the only one who has fallen asleep, Noa and Arnaud are asleep too. Mom needs a break and stops at a motorway service area. There are many people in the parking lot. I don't really want to go out in the cold in the middle of all these people, especially since I feel that my diaper is wet and has swelled. Mom asks me if I want to go out to pee or change my diaper, and I tell her no. She gently shakes the boys and asks if they need to pee. In a half-asleep state, they say they want to stay in the car to continue sleeping.

When mom returns, she suggests that I sit in the front seat to talk with her, and that's what I do. I slide into the front passenger seat and mom resumes driving. I see my pack of diapers at my feet.

"I saw that your diaper is wet," she tells me.

"Yes, I think I peed while I was sleeping."

"Thank goodness you were wearing one then."

We talk about my diaper, and also about Arnaud. I ask mom about his liking for wearing diapers, which I find a bit strange. She tells me that there are things like that, that do not always have a clear explanation, and that normality does not exist.

The journey continues and the boys wake up. The mountain road begins and the turns become more frequent. Snow is becoming more and more present on the sides, and the day has now dawned. The snow vacation is about to begin, and everyone's excitement is back in the car. I think even mom has been caught up in our enthusiasm. We climb higher and higher up the mountain, and we are not the only ones. The cars are lined up, not moving fast. About 45 minutes later, the GPS announces another 30 minutes of road. I am getting more and more eager to pee when I hear Noa:

"Mom, I need to pee."

"I also need to go a little," she replies, "but it's really not possible to stop. There's no room on the sides, there's too much snow."

"I need to go too," I say, looking at mom.

Only Arnaud says nothing, and I can well imagine why: he most likely peed in his diaper. A few minutes go by and we have only moved a few meters. I squirm more and more in my seat and I think I am soon going to lose the battle against my bladder. I have thought about letting my pee out, it would be absorbed by my diaper, but resigning to do that would be equal to being a baby in my eyes.

"Go in your diaper my darling," mom tells me, watching me fidget.

"And me mom," Noa asks, "what do I do? I won't be able to hold it much longer."

"Don't wet the seat, I remind you that you're not wearing a diaper. Two choices, either I stop in the middle of the road and you go pee quickly, or..."

"No, he says, cutting mom off mid-sentence. I don't want to pee in front of all the people in their cars, they'll make fun of me!"

"The only other solution besides holding it," mom continues, "is putting on a diaper and peeing in it..."

Strangely, I see Noa glance at Arnaud, but mom doesn't see it. It gives me a strange sensation, as if the two of them have already talked about it and maybe even expected mom to say that. A few seconds go by before mom restarts the conversation:

"So Noa, what do you decide? Don't wait until the last minute to decide."

"I'd rather put on a diaper," he says.

"Then undress," mom tells him. "Jenny," she says to me, "the bag with spare diapers for the journey is at your feet, take one out for your brother please."

I do as mom asks and take out one of my diapers. Noa undresses and then grabs the diaper I hand him to put on. He has never tried diapers before, at least not that I know of. And there he is, without any shame, putting on a diaper to pee in. I find it very curious. In less time than it takes to say, Noa is relieved. I envy him. He doesn't put on any clothes over his diaper, so it's visible and quite bulging.

"Finished?" mom asks as she drives and can't turn around to see Noa.

"Yes," Noa replies, "I feel much better."

"And you Jenny?" mom asks me.

"I'll try to hold it a little longer," I say in a voice not very convincing.

I know very well that I won't be able to hold it much longer, but I mainly want to avoid admitting my defeat. I prefer to pass it off as a defeat, to me it makes a big difference. Less than two minutes later, unable to hold it any longer, I let my pee flow and my diaper fills up, again and again. I sit still, not moving, staring at the car in front of me. It finally stops and my bladder hurts so much from being pushed to its limit. I don't say anything to mom but I imagine she understood that I peed.

About 30 minutes later, after many turns, we finally arrived in the center of the resort, in front of the real estate agency. Mom tells us she is going to get the key, and that we can wait in the car, leaving the engine running for the heating to continue. The car is double-parked, with the hazard lights on. Five minutes go by, then ten, then fifteen. We are starting to get bored, but mom still hasn't come back. Suddenly, a man knocks on the window and it startles the three of us.

"You can't stay here," the man, who is actually a police officer, tells us.

"Mom went to get keys," I say through the window.

I can see that the officer is not very pleased and doesn't respond to me. Just before leaving, he looks through the rear door window and must see the diaper that Noa is wearing. Noa, in fact, rushes to put his sweatpants over his thighs to hide his diaper. This amuses Arnaud. Mom arrives a few minutes later. We tell her what just happened. She then checks to see if she sees the officer, and starts the car.

We drive slowly for a few minutes among the flow of cars and piles of snow on the sides of the road. Mom is getting a little annoyed, it's time for us to arrive. After circling around a building for a few minutes, we finally find a parking spot.

"Noa," mom says then, "do you really plan to walk to the apartment with your diaper showing?"

"Um... No mom..."

"Then take it off and put back on your underwear and sweatpants or put them on over your diaper. Hurry up anyway."

Noa chooses the second option and puts his underwear and sweatpants over his diaper. Finally, we are all ready, heavily loaded, pulling our suitcases and carrying various bags, either filled with groceries or clothes and shoes. There is a bag that mom gave me that I don't like having in my hand because it's my diaper bag. The picture on it leaves no doubt as to what it contains, and given the people around us, I am not very comfortable carrying it.

We finally find the entrance to the building, then the elevator, and finally the door to the apartment. Mom enters first and hurries to find the bathroom. As for me, with my diaper bag and my wet diaper under my sweatpants, I did not feel proud in front of all the people we passed by. I was so glad to finally arrive at the apartment. Noa, Arnaud, and I put down all our things and start to explore. There is a living room with a small kitchenette, a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom, and what they call a "mountain corner", which is a small nook where three bunk beds are located, it's the first time I've seen that.

"Of course, I will take the bedroom," mom says as she arrives at that moment. "Each of you choose one of the bunk beds and put your things on it."

It is agreed that the oldest, Arnaud, will sleep on top, and the youngest, Noa, on the bottom. So I end up in the middle and that suits me fine.

Mom asks us to take off our diapers and that we go out to visit the resort a bit to sign up for ski or snowboard lessons."
