It's Saturday, it's 4:30 pm, and Arnaud should arrive around 5 pm. I am impatient and I imagine he is too. It's the first time someone is coming to sleep over at our house. Noa often sleeps over at friends' houses, but not me. He never invites anyone, I think he doesn't want anyone to know that his big sister wears diapers like babies.
"What are we having for dinner tonight, mom?" I ask more to pass the time than because I want to know.
"I have ingredients for making pizzas or carbonara pasta," mom responds. I wanted Arnaud to choose, what do you think?
"I like both, so that works for me," I reply with a smile.
"You seem happy to have Arnaud at home tonight."
"Yes, it's true, it feels weird to know that he's coming to sleep over. I feel like I've known him for years and yet it's been less than two weeks that we've known each other."
"Life is sometimes strange."
A few minutes later, the doorbell rings and I rush to open it.
"Hello Arnaud."
"Hello Jenny."
Both are happy, and it shows. After saying hello to mom, we go to my room where Noa is already there. We play and talk when mom comes to ask Arnaud what he wants to eat.
"Carbonara pasta, please!" Arnaud exclaims, I love it.
"Excellent choice," mom replies. "But wait, I thought it was a pyjama party and I see you're dressed."
"That's true," I say.
In no time, I undress and put on my nightshirt. It's my favorite outfit to sleep at home. It's pretty warm in the apartment in winter because the central heating works very hard. Arnaud and Noa also quickly change into their pyjamas. Noa's, of course, I know, it's one that mom recently bought for him, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pyjama. I find it very childish but he likes it, and I have to admit it looks good on him. Arnaud's, on the other hand, consists of navy blue and white striped pyjama bottoms and a white top, embroidered with a navy blue boat.
"You have a very nice pyjama," says mom, "I love it. It's the "Petit Bateau" brand, I assume?"
"Yes," replies Arnaud, "she found it on a classifieds site, and I like it too."
"I'll leave you, see you later and have fun."
And that's what we do. I really feel like I've known Arnaud for several years because the connection between the three of us is so good. At one point, Noa goes to the toilet and I take the opportunity to ask Arnaud:
"Do you want to wear a diaper to sleep?"
"Are you going to wear one too?" he asks me.
"Yes, no choice, otherwise my bed will be wet tomorrow."
"Then me too! I brought one of mine in my bag."
"Do you want to try one of mine instead?"
"Oh, yes please. It did seem comfortable from the little I tried the other day."
At that moment, Noa returns and we stop our conversation. Around 7 pm, mom calls us and we sit down for dinner. The meal is very good and Arnaud seems to enjoy it and even asks for seconds. After dessert, mom suggests we play a little more before watching a movie.
"It's diaper time before the movie," mom says to me. I don't want you falling asleep."
"Okay mom," I say while also looking at Arnaud.
"And mandatory teeth brushing!"
Mom then leaves and Noa also leaves to go to the bathroom.
"Shall I give you a diaper then?" I ask Arnaud.
"Yes, please."
I can see that Arnaud is happy and eager. It's under his gaze that I open my closet and take out two diapers from the bag before giving him one. He takes it in his hands and turns it around to inspect it. Unabashedly, he then removes his pyjama bottoms and puts it on. As for me, I lower my panties and put on my diaper before putting my panties back on. I can see my companion's astonishment.
"I prefer, " I say, "it holds my diaper better. But I usually take it off once I'm in bed."
"Okay. Anyway, thanks for inviting me to sleep over, and also for not judging me for wearing diapers."
"We're friends now, and friends don't judge each other!"
Arnaud then comes towards me and hugs me. I must admit I didn't expect it and I'm a little surprised. I can't say that I return his hug.
Both of us wearing diapers under our pyjamas, we join Noa in the bathroom. I see my brother looking at Arnaud's pyjamas but he doesn't say anything. Shortly after, we all settle on the sofa and choose a movie.
"Are you okay, Arnaud?" mom asks as the movie starts.
"Yes, very well, thank you ma'am."
"And what if you stop calling me ma'am? Call me Sophie, and you know, you can use the informal 'you'."
"Okay, Sophie," he responds. "I wanted to thank you for not saying anything to mom."
"I had told you I would keep your secret," mom replies with a wink.
We then watch our movie, and while I need to pee during it, I see that it's not the case for Arnaud, who squirms a lot as if he really needs to go.
"Do you need to pee?" I ask discreetly in his ear.
"Yes," he tells me, "but I don't want to miss the movie."
"You can go in your diaper if you want. But you'll need to put on a clean one before going to bed."
This sentence was obviously not said by me, but by mom. She just said that to Arnaud, and even if it was discreetly, I heard it. She never said that to me, and I'm surprised to hear those words, and Arnaud seems surprised too. Mom smiles at us as if to confirm what she said.
That's all it takes for Arnaud, and I hear the sound of pee streaming. The movie ends about 30 minutes later and when my new friend stands up, there's no doubt that his diaper is wet as it has swelled. His pyjama no longer hides what's underneath as well. Noa also sees it and gives me a look to show me what I already know.
If Noa and I head to the bathroom to go pee one last time, one of mom's rules, she takes Arnaud to my room. When I join them, I see Arnaud with both hands on mom's neck, and he's no longer wearing his pyjama bottoms. A wet diaper is lying on the floor, and a new one is serving as underwear for Arnaud.
Mom now helps him put on his pyjama bottoms while Noa joins us. Mom has set up an air mattress and helps Arnaud settle on it before covering him with a blanket. Noa and I then settle into our respective beds.
As we leave the room, mom kisses each of us three and takes Arnaud's dirty diaper. As I do every night, I take off my panties and lay them on the floor.
"Did you pee in your diaper during the movie?" Noa asks.
"Yes..." Arnaud responds embarrassed. "Your mom said I could..."
"Why did you do that?"
"I really needed to pee, and that's the advantage of wearing a diaper, you can pee in it without stopping what you're doing."
This phrase from Arnaud resonates in my head until I fall asleep. In the morning, when I wake up, Noa and Arnaud are still asleep. My reflex is to check if the bed is wet, and it's not. Not surprisingly, my diaper is wet. My fingers sink into it, and I feel the gel crushing as I press on my diaper. I discreetly get up and leave the room before closing the door. I find mom in the kitchen.
"Did you sleep well?" mom asks when she sees me coming.
"Yes, very well. The boys are still asleep."
"I imagine, yes. Have your breakfast, you don't have to wait for them."
It's always like this in the mornings: I eat my breakfast and only then do I take off my diaper and wash. Mom finds it more hygienic for me to take off my diaper when I'm going to wash because otherwise my night pee on my bottom would be in contact with my nightshirt. I've gotten used to it, but the first days, the thickness of my wet diaper bothered me when I was sitting on my chair.
As I eat toast with Nutella on top, I see Noa coming, accompanied by Arnaud. Like last night, I can deduce the thickness of a wet diaper under his pyjamas.
"Hello boys," mom says.
"Hello," they both say cheerfully.
"Sit down at the table and have your breakfast."
Arnaud is smiling and it's nice to see. There's no mention of his diaper, neither by him nor by mom. I finish eating and start clearing the table while my brother and he finish their breakfast too.
"Noa, you go wash first and hurry up," mom tells him. "The three of you need to wash this morning."
Noa doesn't argue and does as mom asks.
"Did you sleep well, Arnaud?" mom asks.
"Very well, yes."
"Can I lower your pyjama to check the state of your diaper?"
"Yes," he responds.
"It's wet," she says after lowering the front of his pyjama bottoms. "Do you wet the bed or..."
"I did this night when I woke up," Arnaud responds without any hesitation.
"You did well. Each of you will wash when Noa finishes. Don't take too long, especially you, Arnaud. Your mom is coming to pick you up at 10:30 and it's already 10 o'clock."
While Noa washes up, Arnaud and I go to my room. He explains to me that my diapers are really good because they are comfortable and absorbent. I listen but say nothing. He continues by telling me that he would like to be able to wear them at home to sleep because it calms him down and he feels good in them, that they are really practical. I then get up from the floor where we are sitting and I fetch 3 diapers that I hand to him.
"These are for you, a gift for you to have at home."
"Thank you..." he tells me, perhaps a little moved by my gesture.
Like last night, he approaches me and gives me a hug, and this time, I hug him back. Noa arrives at that moment and Arnaud goes to wash up, and then it's my turn. Before I go wash, I go to the toilet and then I remember what Arnaud was saying, about how diapers are practical. However, I lower my diaper before sitting on the toilet seat to pee. It's true that in hindsight, my diaper could have definitely handled it. Plus, it was already wet.
I then wash up, and as I come out of the shower, I hear the doorbell ring. When I leave the bathroom wrapped in a big towel, I see Arnaud's mom talking to mine. I don't hear what they're saying but when mom sees me, she signals for me to come closer.
"Hello," I say.
"Hello Jenny," she says.
"I just suggested to Arnaud's mom that we take Arnaud with us during our vacation in the snow. What do you think Jenny? The apartment is for 4 people and we are only 3 after all."
"Your proposition is very kind," Arnaud's mom says, "but it bothers me."
"Don't be, if I suggest it to you, it's with a good heart."
"Allow me at least to contribute financially."
"Absolutely not!" mom replies. "However, find him suitable clothes, like a snowsuit. Gloves and hats, I have what you need, no need to buy them."
"Okay, I'll take care of that. Thank you very much to you. Arnaud has never been to the snow and I'm sure he'll be very happy."
I know he'll be happy, especially since he can wear diapers without hiding! Arnaud and his mom leave shortly after. If he was happy to learn he'd be going with us to the snow, I have to admit that I am too. I like him and we have a good time all three of us with Noa. Plus, Arnaud wears diapers, like me, even if not for the same reasons. So, I feel less alone and especially less ridiculous.
